The Northern Territory has recorded the highest level of infrastructure expenditure for the state during October 2016 at $80 million.
Northern Territory Deputy Chief Minister, Nicole Manison, made the announcement at the 7th Annual NT Major Projects Conference at the Darwin Convention Centre, and outlined the key economic drivers and infrastructure projects planned for the state.
“Since coming to government, we have done everything we can to get projects out the door as quickly as possible,” Ms Manison said.
“There is currently around $600 million worth of projects in train across the Territory.
“Projects such as Palmerston Regional Hospital, upgrade and duplication of Roystonea Avenue, continued expansion of Royal Darwin Hospital, upgrades to the Alice Springs Hospital, remote housing packages, upgrades to education facilities across the Territory and continued investment in our road network.”
Ms Manison said the State Government recognises the critical role private investment and major projects play in developing economic strength and resilience, and creating jobs and new opportunities.
“It was fantastic to see representation at the conference of the major projects ahead over the next year or so, including the Berrimah Farm redevelopment and the $1.5 billion proposed Project Sea Dragon, Australia’s largest aquaculture project.
“As a government we want to work together with the private and not-for-profit sectors, along with the community, to make sure we all share a common vision for economic growth and development in the Territory.”
