The winner of the 26th Annual World Travel Awards’ ‘Oceania’s Leading Airport’ category has been announced.
Brisbane Airport (BNE) took out the prestigious award, its second recognition after being named ‘Australasia’s Leading Airport’ in the 23rd World Travel Awards in 2016.
The accolade places Brisbane Airport ahead of seven other major airports including Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Wellington Airports.
The 26th World Travel Awards’ year-long online voting process encourages global participation, with votes coming from qualified executives working within travel and tourism and the consumer travel buyer.
Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) Chief Executive Officer, Gert-Jan de Graaff, said the award was a testament to the incredible hard work and collaboration that goes on across Brisbane Airport.
“We are incredibly proud of this achievement as we’ve worked hard to improve our facilities, processes and the passenger experience at our terminals,” Mr de Graaff said.
“We work closely with our airline partners, government agencies, retailers, contractors and our volunteer Airport Ambassadors to provide the very best welcome and farewell possible, and we will continue to do so into the future.”
The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.
Today, the brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which others aspire.
