A $158 million two-tower development across from the Perth Arena has been approved by Western Australian Planning Minister, Rita Saffioti, as part of the Perth City Link project.
The Perth Hub development will be built by Far East Consortium at Lot 2 and 3A in the Perth City Link development area.
“The Perth City Link project is underpinned by bus and rail connections, and is an example of what METRONET will strive to achieve by reconnecting our city, attracting private investment and driving new business opportunities,” Ms Saffioti said.
“The Perth City Link project will create hundreds of jobs for Western Australians. As construction and development progress over coming years, we will see retail, hospitality and hotel operations continue to boost the state’s economy.”
The first building is a 32-storey mixed-use tower with 314 apartments and 217 parking bays, supported by retail tenancies and a tavern at street level.
Perth Hub will include a range of housing sizes, and forms the first residential component of the Perth City Link area which will house about 3,000 people once fully developed.
The second building will accommodate the four-star Dorsett Hotel – a 23-storey tower with 263 hotel rooms and a range of dining options and amenities for arena patrons, city workers and visitors to Perth.
In recommending the proposal for approval, the Minister noted the unique and high-quality contemporary design and the contribution the development would make to the new urban character of the reconnection of the central business district with Northbridge.
The development on Lot 2 was approved with an additional 16 storeys above the design guidelines and Lot 3 with an additional seven storeys. The development across the two lots achieved this by creatively redistributing the allowable floor space to achieve an alternate solution for the sites.
