The NSW Government’s draft plans for a Cabramatta Rail Loop has progressed to community feedback stage.

 The proposal includes:

  • Construction of a 1300m rail passing loop on the eastern side of the Southern Sydney Southern Freight Line between Cabramatta Station and Warwick Farm Station
  • Modification of Sydney Trains’ overhead wiring structures and slewing of the Southern Sydney Freight Line
  • Duplication of existing bridges at Sussex Street and Cabramatta Creek
  • Relocation of an existing retaining wall and noise on Broomfield Street between Cabramatta Rd East and Sussex Street
  • Reconfiguration of Broomfield Street between Bridge Street and Sussex Street bridge and Bridge Street
  • Acquisition of Council land along Broomfield Street

Executive Director Infrastructure Assessments, David Gainsford, said that community input is a vital part of the planning process.

“The draft plans involve the construction and operation of a passing loop on the eastern side of the Southern Sydney Freight Line between Cabramatta Station and Warwick Farm Station to enable freight trains to pass.”

The Environmental Impact Statement and all associated documents are available on the NSW Major Projects Planning Portal.

“All the feedback will help us assess the development application so we can work towards the best outcome for the community,” Mr Gainsford said.

The proposed project will be exhibited to the public until the 26 September.
