The Queensland Government has announced an extra $200 million in funding for regional Queensland over two years, allocated to councils through the Works for Queensland Program, part of the State Infrastructure Fund.
Acting Premier and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Jackie Trad, said the additional funding meant the program will pump a total of $400 million into local communities throughout the state.
“This funding is about jumpstarting projects and getting people working as soon as possible,” Ms Trad said.
“Across regional Queensland councils are telling us that this program is creating jobs, building great community infrastructure, and that they want to see more invested. We have listened and we are delivering.
“Current projects in construction range from roadworks to upgrading parks and playgrounds, and even delivering renewable energy infrastructure.
“Our initial Works for Queensland spend saw councils have more than 700 projects approved, supporting almost 6,000 jobs across our regions.
“We know that these projects are having an enormously positive impact on regional communities and I’m excited to see this continued.”
