Regional Victorian businesses have a new chance to upskill for major project work as Inland Rail launches a second round of supplier capability workshops targeting its Beveridge to Albury section.
Delivered by the Inland Rail Skills Academy in partnership with Deborah Wilson Consulting Services, the workshops will offer practical support for local suppliers aiming to compete for tenders in rail and related infrastructure sectors.
Places are capped and registration is required by the end of today (July 18). For more details or to register interest, view the Supplier Capability Development Program page.
Each session includes expert presentations on tendering, procurement, and contract management, plus panel discussions and networking opportunities. Participating businesses will also receive one-on-one mentoring between workshop sessions.
Open to Indigenous businesses, social enterprises, start-ups and SMEs, the program is designed to strengthen the competitiveness of suppliers operating near the Inland Rail alignment.
“Inland Rail works hand in hand with local businesses and suppliers along the alignment – they are incredibly important to the success of the project, and we want to help them develop their ability to grow in a sustainable manner,” said Stephen Jones, Inland Rail Executive Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability.
“These Supplier Capability Development workshops are phase two of a collaboration between the Inland Rail Skills Academy and Deborah Wilson Consulting Services, and they will give businesses the knowledge and tools to enhance their business practices, continue looking for opportunities within Inland Rail’s supply chain, and also to grow within other construction-related industries in the region.”
The Beveridge to Albury stretch has already seen over 500 suppliers contribute to works, with phase one participants reportedly earning more than $16 million in contract value to date.
Workshop 1 will run from 29 to 31 July in Benalla, Euroa and Broadford respectively. Workshop 2 follows from 28 to 30 October in the same locations.
