The Victorian Bioenergy Network (VBN) is set to host another of its regional bioenergy events, with over 100 attendees expected to attend an informative day of knowledge sharing and inspiration.
VBN has said that Australia’s regions hold the key to a balanced renewable energy future utilising agricultural and food processing residues to create liquid and gaseous renewable biofuels.
In this pivotal period in Australia’s energy transition, the VBN is promoting the use of bioenergy technologies across Victoria. It brings together experts, industry, government, and communities to accelerate the transition to a circular, low-emissions economy.
The Albury-Wodonga Bioenergy Forum, hosted by the VBN, will take place on Wednesday, November 12th, at The Cube Wodonga. It will be followed by site visits on Thursday, November 13th, 2025.
This two-day event will gather industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to explore the transformative potential of bioenergy in fostering a sustainable, circular economy for regional Victoria.
The forum will focus on renewable gas, liquid biofuels, and ecosystem development, showcasing how bioenergy can reduce emissions, enhance energy resilience, and support regional industries. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with experts, discuss policy integration, and discover practical applications of bioenergy solutions.
VBN has said it is excited to welcome a lineup of distinguished speakers, including:
- Donna Findlay, Investment Coordinator General at the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions, delivering the keynote address on investment opportunities in bioenergy
- Vikram Singh from AGIG, discussing the decarbonisation of domestic industry
- Bernadette McCabe from the University of Southern Queensland, presenting on the integration of anaerobic digestion into farming systems
- John Day from North East Water, discussing Regional Bioenergy projects in Victoria
The full program includes a range of highly qualified speakers from industry, project development, and academia.
On the following day, November 13th, 2025, site visits will be organised to provide participants with a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insights into key projects, engage directly with experts, and observe practical applications of the topics discussed during the conference.
After the tour of the North East Water Treatment Plant, attendees will have the opportunity to visit either Just Biodiesel Pty Ltd or JBS Pork Australia to explore their innovative bioenergy applications.
