The Victorian Government has awarded two contracts that will deliver state-wide improvements to bus shelters and stations through the $22.5 million Road and Rail Minor Works Program.
Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan, announced Ace Infrastructure and Keystone Civil were selected to deliver the upgrades.
“This program will deliver a range of improvements with more bus shelters and car parking, while also upgrading station facilities,” Ms Allan said.
The upgrades include over 900 formal car parking spaces, new and upgraded bus shelters, passenger information displays, bike hoops and Parkiteer cages will be delivered to stations in Barwon South West, Gippsland, the Grampians, Hume and the Loddon Mallee regions.
“Alongside the Andrews Labor Government’s Regional Rail Revival investment, this shows we are getting on with giving regional Victorians the transport services they deserve,” Ms Allan said.
The Road and Rail Minor Works Program funds upgrades to public transport infrastructure that make a real difference in improving comfort and safety to people travelling in regional Victoria.
The announcement comes as the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments will partner to deliver $1.6 billion in regional rail upgrades.
