Work to improve motorist safety on John Renshaw Drive at Buchanan in New South Wales is now complete.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald, said the NSW Government allocated $1.17 million in 2016/17 to improve safety for motorists and help reduce the risk of crashes on a curve 350m west of Avery’s Lane.

“Roads and Maritime Services completed the work which involved installing roadside and median safety barriers to prevent vehicles crossing onto the wrong side of the road or veering off the road,” Mr MacDonald said.

“Work also included road widening, painting a wider median strip and improvements to the road surface.

“This safety improvement project started in May 2017 and was completed on budget early this July 2017.”

Acting Chair of the Traffic Committee and Maitland Councilor, Bob Geoghegan, said, “It is very good to see the improvements on this road which is getting busier, as it is one of the mains roads between East Maitland and the Hunter Expressway”.
