To improve road safety, 29km of audio tactile linemarking will be installed on various roads in the southern area of South Australia.
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) is installing Audio Tactile Linemarking (ATLM) at the following locations:
- Dukes Highway between Keith and Bordertown, 3.5km
- Riddoch Highway between Penola and Nangwarry, 3km
- South East Highway between Callington and Monarto, 3.5km
- South East Highway between White Hill and Tailem Bend, 6.5km
- Sturt Highway between Truro and Blanchetown, 4.5km
- Sturt Highway between Blanchetown and Waikerie, 3.5km
- Main South Road between Noarlunga – Cape Jervis, 4.5km
The ATLM will assist in reducing rural road crashes by providing noise and vibratory warning to road users who may veer towards the road edge due to fatigue or poor visibility.
The $130, 000 works are jointly funded with the State Government contributing $32, 000 and $98,000 from the Australian Government’s Periodic Road Maintenance Programme.
