A three kilometre upgrade of Anzac Avenue in north Brisbane is set to improve road safety and ride quality for tens of thousands of motorists.
A $5.6 million project has been funded to upgrade a three-kilometre section of Anzac Avenue between Diamond Jubilee Way and Kinsellas Road East in Mango Hill through to Finnegan Street in Rothwell, including asphalt resurfacing and repairs, guardrail improvements and a full deck resurfacing of Saltwater Creek.
The project forms part of a broader $7.2 billion investment in transport infrastructure across the North Coast region, covering the local government areas of Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Somerset.
Federal Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Brent Mickelberg, said the works were focused on improving safety and reliability for motorists in one of Queensland’s fastest-growing regions.
“Anzac Avenue is used by around 48,000 motorists every day, and this upgrade will make it safer, smoother and more reliable for the community,” Mickelberg said.
“The works will extend the life of the road, reduce ongoing maintenance costs and give drivers greater confidence in the quality of the network they rely on every day.
“This project is part of a wider $5.6 billion investment over four years to improve the safety and durability of roads across Queensland, ensuring the transport network keeps pace with population growth and rising demand.
“The North Coast region is receiving a $7.2 billion share of that investment, supporting councils across Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Somerset to keep their local road networks moving.
“We know roadworks can cause short-term inconvenience, but these upgrades are essential to deliver safer, more resilient infrastructure for communities now and into the future,” Mickelberg said.
Works are scheduled to begin in late January and are expected to be completed later in 2026, subject to weather conditions.
