The South Australian 2019-20 budget will provide $11.9 billion for a pipeline of projects over the next four years.
South Australian Premier, Steven Marshall, said the comprehensive capital works program would produce world class schools, hospitals and cultural, innovation and tourism precincts, while building safer roads right across South Australia to help save lives and bust congestion and reduce travel times.
The investment includes:
- $1.5 billion in the state’s health infrastructure, including a provision of $550 million over the forward estimates towards a new state-of-the-art Women’s and Children’s Hospital
- $97 million for upgrades at Modbury Hospital
- $264 million for upgrades at Queen Elizabeth Hospital
- $69.1 million (over four year) for reactivating the Repat
- $140 million (over ten years) for improving country health facilities
- $1.4 billion for schools and VET infrastructure
- $182 million for redevelopment of the Adelaide Festival Plaza precinct
- $155 million to construct the Northern Adelaide Irrigation Scheme to supply treated water from the Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Northern Adelaide Plains
- $390 million for solar PV generation and storage solutions on SA Water assets.
- $551 milion (over ten years) for the Adelaide City Deal
- $150 million for the development of the Government’s flagship Aboriginal Art and Cultures Gallery
- $10 million for sporting infrastructure
- $252 million towards the final 10.5km stretch between the River Torrens and Darlington
- $5.4 billion towards the final section of the North-South Corridor
“Through our constructive and mature relationship with the Commonwealth Government we have been able to secure $2.8 billion of new federal infrastructure funding. While some of this funding will be received beyond the current forward estimates, the funds support projects that are commencing in the 2019-20 State Budget.
“This significant infrastructure investment means we can build and upgrade roads and intersections right across the state to bolster safety, grow the economy and help create more local jobs,” Premier Marshall said.
