Site investigations have begun in Seaford as planning progresses to remove two dangerous and congested level crossings on the Frankston Line.

The works form part of a major project to eliminate the level crossings at Armstrongs Road and Station Street by constructing separate rail bridges over the roads and delivering a new, modern and accessible Seaford Station.

Since late last year, crews have been assessing ground conditions, locating underground services and inspecting rail equipment along the corridor to support detailed planning and design.

To allow these investigations to be carried out safely, Armstrongs Road is scheduled to be closed between Railway Parade and Kananook Creek from 7am on Monday 2 February until 6pm on Friday 6 February. Detours for drivers and pedestrians will be in place during this period.

The investigative works are essential to understanding site conditions and will inform the project’s concept designs, which are expected to be released later.

Final designs are scheduled to be released before construction begins in 2027, with both level crossings removed and the new Seaford Station open by 2029.

Once complete, the Frankston Line is expected to be level crossing free by 2029, improving safety and reliability for road and rail users.
