South Australia is experiencing a once-in-a-generation infrastructure investment as they deliver the roads, schools, light rail and hospitals the state requires.
The benefits of the $12.1 billion infrastructure program should extend well beyond the delivery of major projects by helping more South Australians get into work.
The industry participation policy is ensuring record infrastructure investment provides new job opportunities for South Australians and helps existing workers learn new skills.
Transport and Infrastructure and Housing and Urban Development Minister, Stephen Mullighan, said, “These vital transport, infrastructure and urban development projects, such as the billions being spent upgrading the North-South Corridor, will generate enormous benefits in terms of economic activity and job creation.
“The Government’s paramount focus on maximising the benefits of this massive investment for South Australians will result in the creation of thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in economic benefits to local businesses.
“The rewards of public infrastructure investment are more than evident in the many projects the Labor Government has already completed.
“Millions of dollars of economic benefits have been delivered through projects such as the Adelaide Oval redevelopment, the Southern Expressway duplication and the tram extension to the Entertainment Centre.”
