Works are continuing to complete the new Mordialloc Station precinct following the opening of the elevated station and the removal of the McDonald Street and Station Street level crossings in May.

Construction is now focused on restoring several heritage features while delivering the final landscaping, road upgrades and public spaces across the precinct.

Crews are restoring the former Platform 1 station building, which will become a new Protective Services Officer facility. The 144-year-old building is receiving a new roof, plumbing, internal fit-out and fresh paint.

The historic Mordialloc railway water tower, dating back to 1910, is also being incorporated into the station precinct, where it will remain a prominent feature at the Albert Street entrance.

Landscaping works are also progressing, including the relocation of the precinct’s existing palm tree, which will become a feature of the new station forecourt.

In Aspendale, motorists travelling south now have a new left-turn movement from the link road onto Nepean Highway, while the closed southbound lane between Parana Street and Kiandra Close is expected to reopen later this month.

Crews are also constructing 30 new car parking spaces on Station Street and delivering a landscaped open space linking Attenborough Park and Groves Reserve.

Works across the project area are expected to continue until the end of the year, with crews completing landscaping, road resurfacing, kerb reinstatement and the removal of temporary site fencing.
