The Tasmanian Government has introduced single form tendering, in a move aimed at simplifying procurement and improving access to government contracts for businesses.
The changes streamline the tendering process, reducing duplication and making it easier for companies – particularly small and medium enterprises – to compete for government work.
Tasmanian Treasurer, Eric Abetz, said the reforms are designed to support businesses while maintaining value for money.
“These changes are a big win for local businesses,” Abetz said.
“They reduce duplication and red tape, particularly for small and medium businesses in Tasmania, while maintaining strong value for money outcomes.”
The new approach includes updated Request for Quotation templates, refreshed guidance materials for bidders, and the introduction of a Supplier Code of Conduct applying to all government suppliers.
Additional resources have also been developed to support agencies in applying the Buy Local Policy, aimed at maximising economic benefits within Tasmania.
Abetz said the reforms would allow businesses to focus more on delivery rather than administrative processes.
“We are reducing paperwork so businesses can focus on what they do best,” he said.
“We have strong business conditions, confident businesses and we plan to keep it that way – because it benefits every single Tasmanian.”
