Tenders called for NSW bypass work

The New South Wales Government is calling for tenders to carry out early works on  the 9.8km Albion Park Rail Bypass.

New South Wales MP Gareth Ward, said that a request for tender from contractors to build new sporting facilities for the Croom Regional Sporting Complex is expected to go to the market in December 2017.

The bypass will extend the M1 Princes Motorway and would complete the missing link providing two lanes in each direction with a 100km speed limit between Sydney and Bomaderry, improving safety and enabling more efficient travel, bypassing 16 intersections along the way.

“The work involves building new sporting facilities including cricket, AFL and rugby league fields, netball courts, earthwork, landscaping, roadways, amenity buildings and carparks,” Mr Ward said.

“This early work is needed to allow the highway bypass to be built through areas previously used by the sporting complex while ensuring the community still has access to key sporting facilities.

“Since the environmental impact statement displayed in 2015, improvements have been made to the master plan for Croom Regional Sporting Complex resulting from detailed consultation with sporting clubs and Shellharbour City Council.

“This is the next step to progress work on the bypass and follows the recent invitation to three companies to tender for the design and construct contract to build the Albion Park Rail bypass.”
