An Australian airport has won the Terminal Operations: Passenger Experience category in the inaugural International Airport Review Awards for providing exceptional customer service for passengers.

The International Airport Review Awards said Perth Airport had gone above and beyond to enhance its passengers’ experience from check-in to take off.

Perth Airport Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Brown said, “Following significant investment in infrastructure and a renewed focus on embedding a customer-centric culture, Perth Airport continues to go from strength to strength when it comes to enhancing our customer experience and we are delighted that receive this recognition in the International Airport Review Awards.

“A number of large-scale projects, which formed part of our $1 billion redevelopment program, have contributed to making us a world class gateway to Western Australia and we will continue to invest and focus on the passenger experience, ensuring that our customers are at the heart of everything we do,” Mr Brown said.

“These investments really have changed the way the community thinks about their airport. It has been a long journey to this point and our efforts are also being reflected in our customer satisfaction results, which are at an all-time high.

“It’s also further evidence that the privatisation of Australia’s airports has led to greater investment and improved outcomes for airlines and their passengers.”

The award follows Perth Airport being named the CAPA Asia Airport of the Year 2017 (Medium Airport category, <30 million passengers), for being the biggest standout strategically and a leader who had progressed the aviation industry.

Mr Brown said the international recognition is a reflection of the passion and commitment of the team at Perth Airport, who work tirelessly to deliver a quality experience for the travelling public.

International Airport Review’s, Jonathan Russell, congratulated the airport on its achievement.

“Congratulations to Perth Airport, whose recent work has shown all the hallmarks of innovation and the potential to impact the wider airport and aviation industry for the better,” Mr Russell said.

Industry response to the International Airport Review Awards 2017 has been extraordinary, with over 77,000 from the global airport community voting online to have their say on the 130 entrants.

Perth Airport, Las Vegas’ McCarran Airport and Indonesia’s PT Angkasa Pura were shortlisted, in the Terminal Operations: Passenger Experience category.

The shortlist, including Perth Airport, was reviewed by an independent judging panel comprising members of the International Airport Review editorial advisory board.
