Two critical infrastructure projects are set to be fully funded by the Queensland Government’s $2 billion Residential Activation Fund, unlocking 440 new homes for the Fraser Coast.
The fund will deliver $7.15 million to fully-fund the construction upgrade of Scrub Hill Road in Dundowran which includes all associated infrastructure work.
This vital piece of trunk infrastructure will enable the development of 365 low-density residential lots over two housing estates – Sage Estate and Augustus/Oasis Estate.
The fund will also deliver $1.45 million to fully-fund the construction upgrade of Hockley Lane in Hervey Bay, another vital piece of trunk infrastructure that will deliver the immediate development of two shovel ready residential projects which will comprise of 73 two and three-bedroom apartments.
State Member for Hervey Bay, David Lee, said that this fully-funded trunk infrastructure would unlock hundreds of homes on the Fraser Coast.
“This is a huge win for the Fraser Coast, specifically Hervey Bay, with two critical infrastructure projects to be fully-funded by the State Government,” Lee said.
“The Queensland Government is backing regional Queensland by delivering on an election commit to unlock more homes and I’m proud to be apart of today’s announcement that will see legacy projects delivered on the Fraser Coast.”
Fraser Coast Mayor, George Seymour, said that the funding would help deliver much-needed housing and infrastructure to keep pace with the region’s rapid population growth.
“This is a fantastic outcome for the Fraser Coast and a strong example of what can be achieved when different levels of government work together to respond to real housing needs,” Mayor Seymour said.
“With more people choosing to call our region home, it’s vital we have the infrastructure in place to support that growth.
“The reconstruction of Scrub Hill Road and Hockley Lane will unlock close to 440 new homes, from family lots to high-density apartments, helping to ease housing pressures while creating local jobs during construction.
“We’re proud to partner with the Queensland Government through the Residential Activation Fund to deliver these key projects. This investment is not only about roads and pipes, it’s about building stronger, more connected communities for the future.”
