Urban Rail 2024 is being held on 18-19 June at the Sofitel Brisbane, bringing together stakeholders across every level of the light rail, suburban rail, metro and high-speed rail passenger rail sector to hear cutting-edge case studies and lessons learned from projects locally and globally.

Urban rail is reshaping the Australasian landscape by reducing traffic congestion and greenhouse emissions and transforming the way passengers travel by offering smart solutions and multimodal connections.

Becoming the second city in the world to achieve this recognition, Brisbane’s recent gold level achievement under the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Cities Global Initiative was largely due to transport wins such as Brisbane Metro, a fully-electric high-capacity mass transit system saving 50,000t of emissions over 20 years.

Across Australia, projects such as Sydney Metro, Melbourne Suburban Rail Loop, Light Rail Extensions and Cross River Rail are focused on meeting the transport needs of the more than 22 million people who live in Australia’s largest cities.

This event promises to be an immersive experience into the latest innovations, challenges, and opportunities shaping the urban rail landscape.

The event is co-located with the Rail Signalling Workshop.

Advances in rail signalling are transforming rail networks to enhance safety, efficiency, reliability and capacity. Understanding the role, integration and management of signalling systems is key to maximising the record investment in rail projects underway across Australia.

The workshop is set to be an intensive one-day event focusing on the latest case studies and fundamental technical knowledge from a range of industry experts.
