The Victorian Regional Channels Authority (VRCA) has appointed an experienced maritime and resources executive as its new CEO.
Michael Harvey commenced in the role of CEO on 13 February 2017.
VRCA Chair Kate Roffey said, “On behalf of the board, I am delighted to welcome Michael Harvey who brings a wealth of leadership and experience to the VRCA and will ensure continued partnership with Victoria’s regional commercial port stakeholders.”
Mr Harvey has extensive knowledge of the shipping industry and commercial port operations, as well as proven excellence in senior management and leadership roles.
He is a former Chief Operating Officer of Rio Tinto Marine and was Chairman of Port Waratah Coal Services for six years.
Victorian Minister for Ports, Luke Donnellan, said, “The Victorian Regional Channels Authority plays a vital role in providing safe, secure and environmentally responsible navigation services to the users and operators of Victoria’s regional commercial ports.”
“I look forward to working with Mr Harvey and his committed group of VRCA staff.”
The VRCA was established in 2004 to oversee the operation of the channels and port waters servicing Victoria’s regional channels on behalf of the government.
The VRCA manages the commercial navigation of the channels in Geelong port waters and oversees the channel management for the ports of Portland and Hastings.
