The Western Australian Government is seeking a local company is being sought to build a new $7.8 million bus depot in Mount Claremont.
The depot is planned for a 1.2 hectare site west of Brockway Road and has been designed to accommodate a four-bay workshop, administration building, bus refuelling facilities and bus wash facilities.
Initially about 30 to 40 buses are expected to use the facility, but it will be future-proofed to accommodate up to 55.
The project is part of a long-term strategy to ensure all Transperth bus depots are owned by the Public Transport Authority.
It will replace the existing depot on private land in North Fremantle.
WA Minister for Transport, Rita Saffioti, said, “This depot will be owned by the State Government with a bus contractor operating services out of it, in line with Transperth’s ongoing strategy.
“Creating bus depots closer to the areas they service means we can create more reliable Transperth services in this corridor.”
Submissions to tender close 26 June 2018.
