The Western Australian Government has released its response to Infrastructure Western Australia’s State Infrastructure Strategy – Foundations for a Stronger Tomorrow.

After extensive consultation across the public sector, the State Government has supported the majority of recommendations made by Infrastructure Western Australia in its inaugural strategy.

Infrastructure Western Australia made 93 recommendations across nine sectors and seven themes, ranging from climate action and sustainability to transport, health and planning.

Some of the recommendations the Government fully supports relate to:

  • Climate change adaptation
  • Developing the state’s hydrogen industry
  • Investment in social and affordable housing
  • Undertaking strategic planning for Westport
  • Continuing to alleviate demand on the health system and deliver targeted investment in hospitals
  • Improving the quality and resilience of infrastructure and services provided in remote Aboriginal communities

Western Australia Premier, Mark McGowan, said the State Government’s support of these recommendations demonstrates a commitment to these objectives.

“The McGowan Government has committed to a record infrastructure program, and this response shows how we will continue to ensure current and future investment delivers lasting benefits to the Western Australian community,” Mr McGowan said.

Under the Infrastructure Western Australia Act 2019, the State Government is required to provide a response to the Strategy’s recommendations within six months of its release.
