The preferred design and construction contractor for the delivery of the new Western Sydney Stadium in Parramatta has been selected.
Lendlease, partnering with architects, Populous, and engineering consultants, Aurecon, was named as the preferred contractor to deliver the $300 million stadium redevelopment project.
The project will bring Western Sydney a brand new rectangular stadium with all 30,000 seats under roof cover, plus an additional standing area with 1000-person capacity.
Lendlease’s Managing Director of Building, Dale Connor, said he was thrilled that Lendlease could continue its successful track record of delivering major infrastructure for the NSW state government.
“I’m incredibly proud that we will be building this significant sporting facility for Western
Sydney,” Mr Connor said.
“This project is an opportunity for us to continue our legacy in the delivery of important public and sporting infrastructure, including the original Parramatta Stadium in 1986, but also to continue our commitment to enhancing Greater Western Sydney’s prosperity.
“Lendlease believes the transformative projects occurring in Western Sydney, in particular the Parramatta CBD, will make it a truly vibrant and global city.
“This project will give us the opportunity to play a part in the creation of new jobs and increased economic opportunities for local residents and businesses. We look forward to delivering this wonderful new facility for the NSW Government.”
Construction of the new stadium is scheduled to commence on site in 2017 and is expected to be complete in 2019.
