The winners of the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia’s (ISCA) annual sustainability awards have been crowned, with major road and rail projects in Victoria and WA among the winners.
The Annual Infrastructure Sustainability Awards recognise and celebrate leaders actively driving progress in the infrastructure sector. There were seven awards presented in addition to certificates presented to teams and individuals delivering better cultural, social, environmental and economic benefits through infrastructure.
ISCA CEO, Ainsley Simpson, said the caliber of this year’s award nominations was impressive.
“The winners all shared one thing in common – a plan to make bold moves,” she said. “They then effectively set their plan in motion. That’s all it takes to show others what is possible, and importantly, absolutely necessary.”

Individual Leadership In Infrastructure Sustainability
Recognises the individual who best exhibits the most outstanding performance, leadership and greatest contribution to advancing infrastructure sustainability in Australasia throughout the past year.
Winner: Rebecca Hendy (McConnell Dowell)

Emerging Young Leadership In Infrastructure Sustainability
Recognises the young individual who best exhibits the most outstanding performance, leadership and greatest contribution to advancing infrastructure sustainability in Australasia throughout the past year.

IS Innovation and Impact Award
Recognises the IS project/asset that exhibits the most outstanding implementation of an innovative practice/s and/or has made a significant positive impact socially, environmentally or economically. This is awarded to the IS certified or registered project/asset with the most notable innovation initiative/activity relative to the scale of the project. Innovation is the creation of better or more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or ideas that are accepted by markets, governments, and society.
Winner: Level Crossing Removal Project (Caulfield to Dandenong)

Sydney Metro Northwest
Organisational Leadership in Infrastructure Sustainability (Private Sector)
Recognises the organisation that exhibits the most outstanding performance, leadership and greatest contribution to advancing infrastructure sustainability in Australasia. Any organisation (funding and finance; project planning, development or procurement; design, construction and operation; and any direct service or material provider associated with infrastructure sustainability) can enter this category.
Winner: CPB Contractors
Finalists: Acciona
CYP Design & Construction

Recognises the organisation that exhibits the most outstanding performance, leadership and greatest contribution to advancing infrastructure sustainability in Australasia. Any organisation (funding and finance; project planning, development or procurement; design, construction and operation; and any direct service or material provider associated with infrastructure sustainability) can enter this category.
Winner: Transport for NSW

Department of Transport and Main Roads (QLD)
Outstanding Achievement in Infrastructure Sustainability (Design)
Recognises the IS Project which achieved the highest Design IS Rating score over the last 12 months – no award submission required.

Outstanding Achievement in Infrastructure Sustainability (As Built)
Recognises the IS Project which achieved the highest As Built IS Rating score over the last 12 months – no award submission required.
Winner: Northlink WA Southern Section
Ms Simpson said ISCA’s greatest strength is its community of engaged stakeholders.
“We have a wealth of expertise across our members and partners which position us as a network for connection, collaboration and capability-building. Our regular events, courses and targeted advocacy facilitate knowledge sharing, and enable action with impact across markets where expectations in both delivery and asset management are rising rapidly,” Ms Simpson said.
