The Western Sydney Airport has unveiled its new Business Precinct Development Plan, designed to cater to the needs of the growing region.
The 20ha site will include a ten storey hotel with 150 rooms, a gym, café, conference facility and around 25,000m² of warehouse and office space.
The initial construction phase includes internal roads and connections to arterial roads.
Stage one of the development is expected to generate 400 jobs through construction with another 2000 permanent jobs once the business precinct is fully occupied and operational.
Western Sydney International Airport CEO, Simon Hickey, said the precinct is designed to initially service the region’s steadily growing construction workforce and would evolve as the airport and its surroundings develop over time.
“While the airport and the connections to it are being built, there are thousands of workers across the runway, terminal, civil works, metro and M12 construction sites and they will be the first to use this precinct which will adapt to meet the needs of airport customers,” Mr Hickey said.
“Once the airport becomes operational in 2026, the precinct will welcome flight crews and international passengers, but we are leading the way by meeting the demand for shops, accommodation and offices, which is increasing as momentum builds.”
Mr Hickey said Western Sydney International Airport is shaping up as a destination in its own right and that they are making sure to cater to local demand during the construction phase and as its grows to ultimately become Sydney’s biggest airport.
“The vision for Western Sydney International is to maximise the economic uplift of the new airport by bringing business and commercial development, alongside international and domestic passenger flights and cargo services, in a vibrant, diverse and growing region,” Mr Hickey said.
Western Sydney International is on track to open to international, domestic and air cargo services in late 2026.
