The South Australian Government is supplying $395 million to fund three key infrastructure projects.
The 2018-19 State Budget will include funding for the below key infrastructure projects;
- $177 million for Regency Road to Pym Street project
- $220 million for the Gawler line electrification
- $160 million for the Joy Baluch bridge project
The bringing forward of this $395 million is in addition to the $162 million that was included in the 2018-19 Commonwealth Budget for these projects.
The State Government has also secured $70.8 million of Commonwealth funding to deliver the $88.5 million Port Wakefield overpass and road duplication project.
SA Premier Steven Marshall said the State Liberal Government has moved quickly to build a strong working relationship with the Federal Government.
“We’re now seeing that constructive working relationship pay significant dividends for South Australia.
“We’ve been able to accelerate the delivery of this funding to deliver these projects more rapidly.
“The State Liberal Government is building a strong pipeline of productive infrastructure projects to help unlock South Australia’s economic potential.
“These key infrastructure projects will support our construction industry, creating more jobs and providing certainty into the future.”
Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government, Stephan Knoll, said the Marshall Liberal Government would continue to build the infrastructure project pipeline.
“These projects will help grow South Australia’s economy, create more jobs and benefit road and public transport commuters,” Mr Knoll said.
“The Gawler line electrification project will deliver a better, more reliable and efficient service.
“These other significant road projects will also help to ease traffic congestion, cut travel times and make our roads safer.”
