AAA Mentorship program

A new mentoring program run by the Australian Airports Association (AAA) aims to support professional growth and development in the aviation sector.

The AAA Mentoring Program 2019, which is facilitated by The Art of Mentoring, works by pairing airport professionals with experienced mentors.

AAA Chief Executive Officer, Caroline Wilkie, said the program has been specifically designed to build leadership capacity and contribute to the future success of the industry.

“For airports to thrive, they need great leadership, and the AAA Mentoring Program will prepare aspiring leaders to achieve their career goals,” Ms Wilkie said.

“We are delighted to provide the industry with this fantastic opportunity to share knowledge and develop successful careers.

“As well as benefitting mentees, it offers mentors the chance to contribute back to the profession and further develop their leadership and interpersonal skills.”

Mentoring Program Chair and former CEO of Sunshine Coast Airport, Peter Pallot, officially introduced the program in an information webinar on Tuesday 4 June.

“As we journey through our careers, there comes a time where we might have an opportunity to stretch ourselves to become the best we can,” Mr Pallot said.

“This journey doesn’t have to be taken alone.

“As a mentor you will have the privilege of building a relationship, sharing experiences and learnings with another passionate colleague and earning the satisfaction knowing you are helping build resilience and talent in our industry.

“As a mentee you will have the exceptional opportunity to work with a talented and experienced airport professional to help guide you in achieving your goals by sharing experience, wisdom and technical expertise.”

The AAA Mentoring Program is a 12-month program, from July 2019 to July 2020. Applications close on 28 June 2019. For further information about the program click here.
